Some of the highlights from the podcast:

  • How did a snow storm play a part in creating the word “supply chain”
  • Becoming the pioneer and creator of the SCM process
  • Supply chain development from the early ‘80s to 2020
  • Convincing C-Level and the board to focus on the end-to-end supply chain
  • Why data is important in managing the supply chain
  • Integration of the end-to-end supply chain

Show notes:

  • [6:08] Tell us if you remember some of the stories or examples of early-stage wins, where you convince some CEOs to think of this supply chain end-to-end way
  • [10:33] From the ‘80s up to now, there was a dramatic development, especially in terms of technology but the basics of the supply chain did not change and will not change for the next 100 years.
  • [11:24] When you look back at the last 40 years, are there certain moments, technologies, or historical milestones that you think played the most importance in developing the supply chain to what it is today?
  • [11:43] Supply chain is like a big mosaic, there’s a lot of individuals that needs to be put together. The collection and sharing of data is fundamental because you cannot manage your supply chain, either in a company or end-to-end if you don’t have data.
  • [17:50] What do you see as the main areas of development for the next five years?
  • [21:26] Let’s say the next five years, the end-to-end supply chain needs to be integrated.
  • [24:08] Are there any other low-hanging fruits or points of inflection which you would like to mention as principles for breakthrough supply chains?
  • [24:22] The low-hanging fruit is to look at integration and collaboration as much as possible along the supply chain. Don’t hide behind needed information.
