Show notes:

  • [01:56] What are some ripple effects and issues that propagate within supply chain networks at this moment?
  • [03:40] Do you see any differences in the markets around APAC or the ASEAN region? Is there any market that you see having more struggles with the current situation?
  • [05:56] How is your company helping the clients cope with the current situation? What are the biggest requests you receive in this period?
  • [07:37] One of those retailers who literally distributes 50% of the country’s needs sends us an email saying that their systems are stable and they’ve been able to meet the demand in a seamless fashion.
  • [08:03] In this particular retailer case, what did they do to plan ahead or to be better prepared compared to others? What do you think are the main things they did?
  • [08:54] They look at the categories where they are getting all the demand where the demand is actually shrinking. It’s about what we are not going to do so that the things that we have to do, we can do better.
  • [09:48] Strictly on the retail side, what do you think will happen in the next three months? Is there a certain transit? Are there some expectations from their side? And how are they preparing?
  • [11:04] Contactless payment has gone up by 30% to 40% in China, Korea, and Japan due to the crisis and retail stores need to adapt to some of these changes.
  • [12:18] Do you have some examples of good behaviors or good case studies in the specific topic of visibility and where companies are struggling? How do you see it from your client’s perspective?
  • [14:52] Blue Yonder made quite a lot of effort in the last few years to focus on big data, machine learning, and predictive supply chain. What can you tell us about this? How has this been impacting the current challenges?
  • [16:32] Do you have clients in the automotive industry who are doing better than the rest? How do you see the industry at the moment?
  • [17:57] The problem for them right now is the demand has gone significantly out.
  • [18:30] Do you see other examples of good partnerships? Do you as a company consider this or do you have interesting partnerships that have been working during this period of crisis?
  • [20:07] We are working together with Microsoft and health organizations to populate one of the tools that we call Luminate Control Tower with the latest information on the number of cases in reference to the Coronavirus and how that can impact the supply chain.
  • [22:55] Luminate Control Tower has a use case for manufacturing, third party logistics, and retail. It allows you to visualize, provide scenario planning and predict possible disruptions.
  • [24:36] Is there any solution you came up with during this period where the duration of implementation is shorter?
  • [28:33] What do you think organizations should focus on in the long term?
  • [29:52] A lot of manufacturers, both in high tech, industrial and automotive have been putting manufacturing plants closer to the big markets.
  • [31:52] From the workforce angle, do you think we have to deploy certain solutions now or should we rely on a mix of technology leadership empathy?
  • [34:33] Do you see companies who are doing a great job when it comes to making their employees feel safe?
  • [35:20] If you go back and look at the news, it has been corporations who have taken the first steps to protect their associates and their customers before the government.
  • [37:57] What are the biggest changes that you see in the most in-demand skills for the next few months as a leader?
  • [40:50] How should supply chain professionals prepare to take the challenges that will come?
  • [42:41] Look at those opportunities you have depending on what your strengths and weaknesses are and work on creating and bridging those gaps so that you’re better prepared.
