Show notes:
- [01:46] Manish, you’ve been in supply chain HR for over 15 years now and talent attraction and recruitment have changed so much. What are some of the best practices which Rogers uses to attract top talent?
- [02:55] To attract talent, you need to develop a strong employer brand that is consistent and coherent that people outside can see and what people inside live.
- [04:41] How do we involve customers in building the culture as well?
- [05:58] You cannot listen to your customers if you’re not listening to your employees because ultimately they are the ones listening to your customers.
- [06:43] Are there ways in Rogers that ensure the top management doesn’t lose touch with the organization and with the client?
- [09:28] Radu, coming from executive search and working with so many companies globally, what are some of the things you would advise executive search firms to do when they’re partnering with companies to make sure that they are able to attract the top talent?
- [11:42] Giving the right advice, the open advice, and being upfront sometimes because certain things make sense or certain things do not make sense is very important.
- [12:48] Manish, as a client and as an employer, what do you expect from your executive search partners to help you with attracting the top talent?
- [15:20] From your perspective, what can senior executives and leaders do to get hired at the top level in the supply chain?
- [16:17] Your network is your net worth. As a senior executive, how you’re able to develop that network within the industry, across geographies, or with other companies or the industries helps.
- [20:33] Interacting and looking at different perspectives from other companies, other startups, and other networks will be faster in terms of finding solutions and it works both ways
- [22:48] What are some of the biggest skill gaps you see in the supply chain, especially when we go to the mid and senior-level supply chain executives and leaders?
- [26:42] Supply chain professionals have a very good overview of what’s going on in the organization but the piece, which tends to be missed out is the ability to communicate properly and influence decision-makers.
- [29:21] Imagine you have suddenly found yourself with a very high six-figure budget which you can use to develop the mid and senior-level people in your organization. How would you use this budget to help develop your employees and your teams?
- [30:47] Your most important resource as an executive and as a leader is your energy. It starts with how you generate energy then comes having an open mindset.
- [34:56] When you get serious you get stupid. So in that sense, I would say, having fun in whatever you do, not only with your team but also on your own and finding your balance is important before being able to perform.
- [36:24] You are an executive coach Manish and I’m very curious, how do you use your coaching skills to help people, your senior leaders reach their highest potential?
- [37:57] There are three personal angles to executive coaching: transition coaching, relationship coaching, and performance coaching.
- [42:04] Always sharpen your saw, always have objectives in terms of what you need to learn. That will help people remain agile whatever situation comes at them. Resourcefulness comes with learning so keep investing in yourself.
