In the Q1 2024 comparison of e-commerce logistics between the United States and the United Kingdom, both countries demonstrated robust capabilities, underpinned by their sophisticated e-commerce markets and advanced transportation infrastructures. The UK, with a market value of $280 billion, outperformed the US, valued at $925 billion, in average domestic transit times, boasting a quicker delivery rate of 1.23 days versus the US’s 2.32 days. Parcel Monitor attributed this efficiency to the UK’s smaller geographical size and denser transport network.
Moreover, both nations recorded an impressive on-time delivery rate of 98.8%, showcasing their global leadership in logistics efficiency. The US excelled in the first-attempt delivery success rate at 98.1%, compared to the UK’s 95.1%, benefiting from a widespread network of pickup locations and advanced logistical technologies.
Despite these strengths, delivery issues persisted, with the UK experiencing a slightly lower delivery failure rate of 4.97% against the US’s 5.97%. Economic factors such as rising fuel costs and inflation have posed challenges, particularly impacting US logistics firms.
