The e-commerce scene has ballooned in Southeast Asia (SEA) over the years, seeing immense growth in the markets across the region. Spearheaded by the massive rise in the digital payments sector and shifting consumer attitudes, today’s e-commerce market in SEA is dominated by some key regional players such as Shopee and Lazada, along with many other local business-to-consumer (B2C) platforms.

On that note, our media partner, Parcel Monitor, dives into analyzing the top e-commerce markets and their key performance indicators in SEA, namely Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. Here are the key findings from this study:

  • Malaysia had the shortest transit time of 1.37 days in Q1 2022 in SEA: This is potentially due to several courier companies’ recent enhancement of delivery services.
  • First-attempt delivery success rate decreased over the year in all 4 SEA countries: Indonesia had the highest first-attempt delivery success rate of 96.8% in Q1 2022, followed by Singapore (94.4%), Thailand (93.2%) and Malaysia (90.1%).
  • Majority of Delivery Issues in SEA stem from carriers’ end: Such issues are typically caused by delayed deliveries and shipments on hold from carriers.
