In the first quarter of 2024, Europe’s e-commerce logistics sector exhibited a blend of impressive achievements and areas of potential growth across key domestic and cross-border trade routes. The United Kingdom, Germany, and Denmark emerged as strong performers in domestic e-commerce logistics, boasting efficient transit times, high first-attempt delivery success rates, and impressive on-time ratios.

Transitioning to the international stage, the top cross-border trade routes of the Netherlands and Germany, Czechia and Germany, and Germany and Austria presented valuable insights. While some corridors maintained reliable and efficient performance, others faced challenges such as longer transit times and lower delivery success rates. The fastest route of Czechia-Germany maintained commendable efficiency, with a transit time of 1.18 days. However, the Germany-Austria route encountered hurdles, as evidenced by its 94% longer transit time. The e-commerce logistics market in Europe continues to grow, with a projected valuation of US$750 billion by 2027 according to ECDB. As major carriers such as Royal Mail, DHL Paket, GLS Germany, and DPD drive innovation and improvements, the sector is poised to overcome existing challenges and further enhance its capabilities.
